hey there - saw the post on Quoddy...didn't know they offer a 12.5. I have struggled with this myself and even more so b/c I am a 12.5C. I usually end up at either 12D or 13B. Do you know if they offer a C width? what other makers have you had luck with? My rancourts - as nice as they are - are still a bit too short at 12D.

You may be in luck as the Quoddy website does allow you to order a 12.5C. I have had mixed success with Rancourt. They have a “larger than usual” 12 last that worked for me with a chromexcel pair of loafers but the cordovan pair are a bit snug.
As you know, shoe sizing involves a lot of hit and miss, the problem being most acute with loafers. FWIW, I came away from an hour spent at a Crockett and Jones shop empty handed but with the belief that one of the British sizes was a good approximation of a US 12.5. Alas, they are a bit out of my league.

PAB of pabblog is a hell of a guy. He sent me his old USA made Bean blucher mocs because the years had rendered them too small. Throwing tradition to the wind I immediately took them in for new vibram soles. This is what they look like now, my new walking shoes. Thanks PAB.
